About Me
My name is Shelli Howells, and I am from Hemet, California. I met and married my soulmate in 1988, more than 20 years ago. Over the years, we added six wonderful, beautiful children to our happy family. So, how did a small-town, stay at home mom become an expert on Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS)? In September of 2006, I was driving along the I-10 towards Redlands, California. Suddenly, everything went dark and I blacked out. The incident only lasted a second or two, but it was terrifying to think about what could have happened. Both my husband and I felt this was significant enough to warrant a trip to the doctor. That trip to the doctor ended up becoming endless trips to six different doctors in fields from cardiology, neurology, and endocrinology. I underwent a battery of tests: blood tests, EKGs, a CAT scan, an MRI, an EEG, and a sleep study. Everything proved what I had always known all my life – that I am a very healthy woman. However, none of the doctors was able to explain my symptoms: increasing fatigue, daily headaches, periodic migraines that lasted up to three days, general achiness, dizziness, and that inexplicable black out. I am, by nature, an information gatherer. I knew there was something wrong with me, even if the doctors were unable to pinpoint the problem. I began my own research and a very clear picture soon began to emerge. The more I learned about CFS, the more it mirrored my circumstances. Not only did I
learn about the disease,
but I learned how to
get treatment for it
and how to
manage my symptoms.
I learned there were
others out there
in the blogosphere willing to share their stories, give encouragement, and help. I learned there was a way to reclaim your life from CFS. This is the website I wish I had found in 2006, or even in 2007. It is a labor of love as I try to share everything I've learned over the past years. It continues to evolve as I continue to learn. I hope you find the information helpful to you. Please feel free to subscribe to my RSS feed (see sidebar) to keep up to date on our changes.
